At UTB/TSC, faculty, staff, and students are continually engaged in several education and outreach programs.

Monday Night Physics

Monday Night Physics talks are held on every third Monday of each month, except December and Summer time. The series is free, open to the public, and no reservations are required.

Arecibo Remote Command Center (ARCC)

Bringing the world's largest radio telescope to the campus of UT Brownsville. The Arecibo Remote Command Center (ARCC) allows students from the high school level and higher to be actively involved in research at the Arecibo radio telescope and other primer observatories around the world. The students are primarily involved in searching the galaxy for an exotic class of star know as a radio pulsar.

Nompuewenu Observatory

The Nompuewenu Observatory will be open to the public soon. To schedule a visit to the observatory or to request someone to visit your school for a presentation send an email to: observatory@phys.utb.edu.

Summer School

Every year the Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Center for Gravitational Wave Astronomy offers three summer schools: High School Summer Science Academy, Gravitational Wave Summer School at South Padre Island and Gravitational Wave Summer School-China.

UTB/TSC Physics Circus

The UTB/TSC Physics Circus was created in 2003, to help increase interest in science. The shows are interesting and educational physics demonstrations gear towards people of all ages. People will find the fun and excitement in physics.

The Science Wall

The Science Wall is a stereoscopic 3-D projection system. The portable presentation Journey Through Science takes students on a tour of Mars, the solar system, and the Milky Way Galaxy. Media on the new definition of a planet is now available. To schedule a presentation contact Professor Phillip Dukes at phil.dukes@utb.edu or 882-6659
