The Physics of Electromechanical Musical Instruments

In this talk I will discuss the physics of some early electro-mechanical keyboard instruments. The sounds of these instruments are an integral and important part of many musical traditions, and the physics of sound production, processing, and output in these instruments is almost as fascinating as their music is beautiful. Practical demonstrations of the music of these instruments, some by the speaker and some recorded, will be plentiful.
