Title:

Black Hole Perturbation Theory: some recent (and old) results

Speaker:

Dr. Reinaldo Gleiser, Universidad Nacional de Córdoba

Poster

Abstract

Black hole perturbation theory, which originated as a tool to analyze their stability, has recently acquired importance in relation to the problem of the accurate description of the last stages of black hole binary collisions. The purpose of this talk is to provide a brief, mostly pedagogical, introduction to the theory, restricted essentially to perturbations of a Schwarzschild black hole, and to describe several recent applications, which include the possibility of a small but non vanishing angular momentum in the system.
