General Relativity in strong field regimes
Dr. Luis Lehner, University of British Columbia
General Relativity displays its full glory in strong field regimes and/or large regions. The involved nature of the equations governing the theory has prevented us from obtaining general solutions. Although much insight has been gained through different approximations, little is known in generic cases.
The use of computer simulations promises to unravel the full implicances of the theory in the harshest regimes. I will discuss how these simulations are addressed, and present a few examples.
