·To request a personal DOE certificate

·To retrieve a personal certificate using Netscape
 
 

• Close all the browsers
• Open Netscape and go to https://pki1.doesciencegrid.org/
• If you are not already there click on the Enrollment tab
• Fill out the form keeping in consideration the following requirements:
• Email Address: this is an Email Address from your organization, ?they? require                      Something like  <user>@phys.utb.edu  OR <user>@utb.edu NOT <user>@hotmail:yahoo:aol.com
• Affiliation (Organization): you can enter UT at Browsville
• Name of Sponsor:  Dr. Manuela Campanelli
• Sponsor?s Email:Manuela@phys.utb.edu
• Sponsor?s Phone Number: 956-574-6656
• Students and Faculty alike will have to use Dr. Campanelli as the Sponsor since she is     the point of contact.
• Additional Comments: Write something like this:
• I am requesting a personal certificate.  Our site is part of the iVDGL collaboration and part of the LIGO/LSC testbed.  The sponsors? chain is Dr. Campanelli, Albert  Lazarini, Scott Koranda.
• Then click on the submit button.  At some time you will have to enter a password.
• After that, you will get an ID number; you will need that number for the retrieval of the certificate.
• After the certificate request is sent you will need to contact Dr. Campanelli and make her aware of the certificate request and the corresponding ID number.  It is recommended that you have a person to person conversation, or if this is not possible, a phone call.  You might want also to send her an E-mail but only as a reminder.

• You will receive a confirmation e-mail
• Log on as yourself
• Open Netscape
• Go to the web site that was specified in your confirmation e-mail
• Select on import certificate
• Enter your password, you don?t have many chances to enter your password so be careful and take your time.

• Make a directory called:

• Using the Netscape Browser
• Select security from the topmost menu
• Under certificates select yours
• Highlight your certificate (something like, ?My Name 390744?)
• Select export
• Enter password
• Enter new password for the new export file
• Save the file, name it mycert.p12 and place it on / home/<user>/.globus
• Exit Netscape
• Enter the following commands at the Linux prompt:
 #cd /home/<user>/.globus
 #openssl pkcs12 -in mycert.p12 -clcerts -nokeys -out $HOME/.globus/usercert.pem
 #openssl pkcs12 -in mycert.p12 -nocerts -out $HOME/.globus/userkey.pem
